I cannot tell you how excited Heath and I are to have the opportunity to become parents. We are totally looking forward to welcoming our first child in late April or early May. Being diabetic, it has been quite a process just getting a "thumbs up" from the doctors (4 of them), but we are now 11 weeks pregnant!!
Things have been going well. My doctors and I have often found that my body reacts opposite than "the norms". For example, when they gave me a medication that should drop my blood pressure...my blood pressure sky rockets. In turn, I was told that most diabetics have troubles with high blood sugar, but mine has actually been generally lower than usual. THANKS BE TO GOD for my newest toy. I get my insulin from an insulin pump, but I now have a Continuous Blood Glucose Sensor. It checks my blood sugar every 5 minutes and also alarms me if my blood sugar is getting to high/low. It has been a true blessing...though can be annoying when you are completely full and the alarm goes off letting you know you need to eat.
Right now, Heath and I are praying for my health and the baby's. We are praying that I am at one of my healthiest times during my pregnancy. I am being monitored by 4 doctors and visit their offices once a month. They are working together to keep me and the baby in the best possible condition. For that, I am very grateful!!!
Attached is our "little ones" first picture. Cannot see a whole lot, but it is very comforting just know he/she is there! Hearing the heartbeat was simply AMAZING!!! It just seemed to make it all so real.

Hi Carla, we are SO excited for you and Heath. Kim, my SIL told me about you guys but I didn't see you Sunday to congratulate you, so congrats to you!
Glad you have started a blog. I will keep up with you on here. I also have a blog, but it is private. If you would like me to add you let me know and you will be able to view it.
Also, let me know if you need anything or have any questions. I am so glad you are doing well with the pregnancy and the diabetes. High risk pregnancies can and DO work, I am living proof. :)
