The Saturday before Father's Day...we took Garrett to the Dallas Zoo. We have been wanting to take him for a while, but this ended up being the best day! We were really excited to give him the opportunity to see the animals and just play with him!
***BEWARE: many pictures and long blog!!***
Entering the zoo:

Checking out the African penguins (didn't know they lived in Africa!!)

The female lion is hiding behind the grass.

The ostriches:

The giraffes:

Sitting on the statue of a baby elephant (we saw the real ones inside):

Touching the nose of the gorilla statue:

Having fun walking around:

Looking at the chimpanzees:

Listening to Garrett imitate a monkey noise is very cute (even though we heard many times that chimps are not really monkeys!!!!)

Camel rides...tho they looked fun, we figured Garrett was too young!!

Next, we moved on to the "Children's Zoo". We got to see lots of farm animals:

They even had "Charlotte's Web" that kids could play on!

After the Children's area...we went on the Monorail around the African addition to the park. Getting ready (and as you can tell, it was close to nap time!!):

A few (far away) pics of the animals we saw on the train ride (took many more, but too far away to make out the
actual animal!!):

After the train ride, we knew Garrett was hungry and had had enough!! We had a picnic lunch in the truck (with A/C) and then let Garrett nap on the way home!

At this moment, Garrett was actually saying "bye, bye" to the zoo!!

Tons of fun and a great start to the Father's Day weekend!!
