I woke up like normal and began getting ready for school. I checked my blood sugar (good number) and then checked my blood pressure. The number staring back at me on my bp cuff was SCARY! I don't think I realized that number on the bp cuff could go that high! I went back to bed to relax for 5 mins and then checked again...still not good. I got scared, freaked out for a bit, and went on to school. I "just so happen" to have an appointment that afternoon with my high-risk OB, so I knew there was no reason to call a doctor at that moment (and can see now looking back that God was in control).
When I got to school and had a short break, I went to have the school nurse check my blood pressure...I was hoping mine was wrong! Nope, the numbers were still quite high and she suggested I get a doctor appointment ASAP. I told her that I was on my way to see my high-risk OB right after school.
The sonogram showed that Garrett was looking good, had a good heartbeat, and had grown & gained weight since our last visit. In fact, everything looked good except my blood pressure. The doctor admitted me into the hospital for observation for a couple of days in hope that my blood pressure would come down.
So, one year ago today was my last day to teach. I hated to leave my class without any explanation. However, I knew they would be in good hands with the wonderful ladies that I worked with and such a wonderful Kerr family. I was told it would only be about a week...none of us knew what was in store for the next couple of days!!!
