Well...Garrett has made it to his "one week birthday"!! He has been doing so well. Because he has been in the NICU for 7 days, they had to remove his central line that was entered through his belly button. To give him nourishment and fluids, they have had to put in a PICC line. This is like a central line, but it is snaked through a small vein in his left arm to connect to a major artery.
They have gotten the PICC line put in. They are still waiting on his echo-cardiogram. The doctor said that he listened to Garrett' s heart and didn't hear any murmurs...so hopefully the medicine helped the blood vessel to close. Apparently there has been some uproar in the NICU today, but my little man has been acting like angel! : ) They have also lowered the amount of medicine he is receiving for his blood pressure. IF the medicine has closed the blood vessel and IF they can get the amount of his blood pressure medicine down enough...then they can go back to feeding him. Right now they are still having to give him fluids through the IV.
Our prayers are still that when Garrett does get his echo-cardiogram, that his vessel has closed and we can get closer to feeding him again. We have been very thankful that things have gone well so far, so we continue to pray that sleeps and grows some more. I know it will probably be quite a while longer...but I am really ready to hold my baby!!

Happy Birthday Garrett! Though a fairly far removed family member, I'm still thinking of you every day and am so proud of how strong you are fighting! Keep it up!
Heath & Carla - Wishing you the strength you need and love to keep you going. Manda
I am so glad G-man is doing so well and I'll definitely say prayers that the vessel has healed when they do the echo. Thank you for keeping us so up to date here at home. We are all praying for you guys! Jenny
