Well, our little man is two weeks old today!!! The past two weeks have gone well and we have been blessed that everything that has happened to Garrett has been something that is expected for a baby his weight and size. He is now 1lb 13 oz, so getting close to 2 lbs. He is continues to take his feedings well and gets plenty of sleep.
We have approached our next hurdle. They noticed Garrett's white blood cell count was up yesterday, so they started him on some preventive antibiotics, and cultured the blood. It came back positive, so they are doing another culture to try and isolate the source of the infection. Most likely, according to the neonatologist, it is staph, and can be from his IV's, through his skin, etc. They will treat him for at least a week on the antibiotics, and will be doing a spinal tap in the next day or two to ensure it has not spread to the soft tissue of the brain to cause meningitis.
So, our specific prayer request is that the infection is already being cleared by the antibiotics, has not spread, and causes no further complications. Our little man is a fighter and I know God can help him clear this hurdle with ease.

As always we will continue to pray for Garrett and his mommy and daddy. I as sure that this is so stressful for the two of you, so just know that God only gives us as much as we can take. We love you.

Sent the word out that Garrett (and his mommy and daddy) needed a special prayer for today's hurdle. Remember that you three are thought about, prayed for, and loved every day!
