There isn't much to update, but that is not necessarily a bad thing! Garrett is still doing well. He continues to accept the feedings well and his abdomen looks good. They tried to insert the PICC line again yesterday and were successful. I was hoping once the PICC line was in that they would take out the arterial line in his right arm, but they are keeping that because it makes taking his blood gas a lot easier. Since they are doing this about ever 2-3 hours, it keeps Garrett from getting his foot pricked every time. However, it makes sucking his thumb or fingers very difficult!
The only real changes within the last 2 days have been the ventilator settings. When the blood gas comes back good, they lower the rate a little bit. If it comes back with some concern, they increase it a little bit. We have been told this will continue to go up and down as long as he is on the vent. They are just trying to find the right setting for the moment to keep him stable. Since Garrett is still retaining a little fluid, we haven't gotten an accurate weight recently. However, he is starting to loose some of the fluid volume, so hopefully a good weight will come soon.
The past week has been quite dramatic...but we daily feel the thoughts and prayers being lifted up! We cannot thank you enough!!!!

Carla!!! It's Casey! I found your blog through Kim's Facebook page! I had no idea!! It seems like things are going well for you guys and the little guy especially, but a long road ahead I'm sure!! Email/call me if you get a chance, I'd love to hear how you're doing with everything and what else had been going on in the last hundred years since we've seen eachother!
